As Production Coordinator of Henderson Pavillion — a 4,000-plus capacity outdoor venue in Henderson, Nevada — Jon Wolske wears a lot of hats. On show days, he oversees all production needs, including the audio systems, lighting and even the brand new 30-foot LED video wall the venue just installed this year.
“I’m everyone’s first call when they need anything. Let’s just say you hear my name a lot on the radios during setup and shows,” Wolske said. “We also hold smaller events around our city, and I coordinate all the systems that are going out and making sure the event is well-equipped to be successful.”
With a background in audio, Wolske runs FOH for the Pavillion as well as the around-town events.
“I’ll take audio duties for the openers when the touring act has their own band engineer,” he said. “I have been monitor engineer for touring groups that only travel with a FOH engineer and have been RF tech, rigger and the video guy as needed.”
With so many different parts of production to monitor, Wolske has turned to Gig Gear’s Two Hand Touch iPad Harness to simplify his job, including being able to use both hands on a tablet while mixing.
“It’s a single-function item, but it makes such a difference,” he said. “The tablet mixing is so easy and also it saves my left hand from getting a cramp after hours of holding a tablet — they get heavy after a while!”
Wolske added that the accessory pockets on his THT are always full of pens, sharpies and tools and also keeps his radio within reach.
“For multi-band shows, I can put my tablet up and help the team with a stage changeover without misplacing it,” Wolske said. “I can jump right to making monitor adjustments on the stage before wandering back out to the house to mix the FOH.”
